My middle kid spent the night at his best friends’ house last weekend. They have a puppy and he was chasing my son around the house, and my son slipped and hit his foot on something. For one thing, why was he running inside someone’s house? Ugh. And another, he came hobbling home and showed us his foot. Why not call and tell us what happened? Why not ask for a ride? Sometimes I do not understand the mind of a teenage boy. And by sometimes, I mean a lot.
We elevated his foot and got him ice and taped his toes together. We sent him to school, and he said it didn’t feel better at all.
After his orchestra social last night, the hubs took him to urgent care to get an x-ray. Sure enough, the kid broke his toe. He also broke it in a growth plate, so tomorrow we need to call a specialist.
At urgent care, they estimated it would be 6-8 weeks before he could put weight on it. I need to call his club swim team and let them know. He is supposed to have a swim meet this weekend. It was going to be his first long course meet. This also impacts summer swim season. It starts in 3 weeks! He was not happy about that because it’s really fun, but it is what it is at this point. Summer swim season is not that long (probably about 9 weeks). I will be curious to hear what the specialist has to say about his recovery.
Never a dull moment!!
Also, they ended up giving my husband a CD with the images they took. It should come as no surprise, but when we were talking about it, my son had no clue what a CD drive is. 😂
