here, kitty, kitty!

My crazy family has decided to get a cat.  We want our cat to be the controversial kind…an outdoor cat.  This is in formulation for us so lots of speculation and trying to get things planned and figured out.

Our kids are super familiar with cats because my in-laws have them.  Hubs and I have much less experience with owning cats, but we are getting some good advice.

When I was a kid we had farm cats.  No litter box.  No touching them unless you could catch a kitten which I loved because they were ‘sticky’.  But they fended for themselves and ate leftovers off our porch or dog food. So not a real cat owner there.  My in-laws didn’t have a cat until my hubs was in college (they found her on the side of the road).  My in-laws got two cats in their next round of cat ownership.  They were not kittens, but they were a sibling pair.  Those are the ones my kids see now.  One of them loves the attention, one is more of a hider.

Anyway, we want a cat and we have a black one ‘on hold’ for a feral litter in the neighborhood.  We aren’t sure if it’s male or female yet because it’s so little.

Did I mention that I am allergic to cats?  ha!
